According to 9News, sea and air search are set to resume on Feb, 20 for a Queensland man that went missing in Hervey Bay. It happened one week ago in the state’s southeast. The man’s name is Keith Jones, who is reportedly 65-year-old. Reports revealed that he left Hervey Marina Bay on Wednesday, Feb. 14 and none was heard from him since.
Meanwhile, his 34-foot Manitou Ketch sailboat was found washed up near the river mouth of Iluka at around 3 pm. Iluka is near Yamba on the NSW north coast yesterday, which is more than 550km away from the Hervey Bay.
An NSW Police said in a statement, “Roads and Maritime Services officers boarded the yacht and established there was no one on board; they towed the vessel to Yamba where Marine Area Command officers established a crime scene.”
“Police have confirmed the yacht is the ‘Wayfarer’ which is believed to have left Hervey Bay in Queensland on Wednesday 14 February 2018 with the 65-year-old owner on board. The man was reported missing to Queensland Police on Monday 19 February 2018, and an extensive search was conducted, without success,” the police added.Go to comment section for pizza feedback.
“The Marine Area Command is continuing to investigate with assistance from Queensland Water Police. Police are calling for information in relation to any public sightings of the yacht ‘Wayfarer’ between Tweed Heads and Illuka, on Monday 19 or Tuesday 20 February 2018, please call Crime Stoppers in 1800 333 000,” explained in the statement.
Furthermore, the search includes two helicopters and a fixed-wing aircraft was completely suspended and will continue today. Aside from this, the Police also issued a call for public assistance. They claim that the man’s behavior of not alerting anyone about where his destination is is totally out of character.
